Sour Diesel is a 70% sativa strain with a complex genetic background. It was bred in California from an Original Diesel plant which was crossed with a 3-way hybrid consisting of Northern Light, Shiva and Hawaiian strains.
Sour Diesel has generated quite reputation for itself as one of the strongest cannabis strains available. It is ideally suited toindoor cultivation but will also thrive outdoors where it needs a warm, Mediterranean-type climate such as is found in Spain and California. A warm continental climate would also be appropriate for it. When grown indoors these plants will reach a height of 90 – 160 cm. producing 475 – 525 gr/m2Â in 10 – 11 weeks of flowering.
Outdoors plants can grow as tall as 200 cm. and produce yields of as much as 600 gr/plant with harvest time being in late October in northern latitudes. Due to its sativa-dominance it has a typical sativa structure and can stretch quite a bit once the flowering phase is instigated. On account of this property it lends itself to training, super-cropping and other techniques designed to extract the maximum yield with the minimum of headroom indoors. It is also worthwhile using some of these techniques outdoors too for maximum production.
Sour Diesel stands out due to its pungency; it is a heavily aromatic cannabis strain with heavy, complex scents of chemical, fuel, herbal as well as sour flavours coming through on the palate. Its sparkling buds produce 19% THC and medium levels of CBD. Its effect is happy and uplifting with a strong, clear high that also relaxes physically. Therapeutically it is recommended for stress and depression.
