Skunk #1 was the first true-breeding hybrid strain that was commercially available. It resulted from a selection of the original US Skunk strains that were bred using Colombian, Mexican and Afghani plants and was then subjected to intensive breeding to stabilise it.

Skunk #1 is still capable of amazing new smokers/vapers even today so long after its introduction. It is 65% indica, 35% sativa and is a perfect choice for either indoor or greenhousecultivation and even outdoors in warm, Mediterranean climates. Its name has come to be used for any potent, seedless marijuana irrespective of genetic origin but the cannabist (cannabis enthusiast) knows better than politicians and tabloid newspaper writers.

This plant is the very definition of “hybrid vigour”. It has a fast-developing vegetative growth stage followed by a 7 – 8 week flowering stage. Outdoor harvests willbe during October in northern latitudes. During this phase of the plant’s development it will stretch more than a pure indica and the short-spaced inter-nodes will fill out and join up to form longer contiguous colas. Towards the end of flowering the pistils seem to go crazy in a (hopefully) vain attempt to find fertilising pollen. Yields are impressively large.

The aroma and flavour should need little introduction, very sweet and Skunk-like and unmissable – use air-filtration indoors! Manicuring will be done with quickly due to this strain’s high calyx-to-leaf ratio. The effect is a glorious combination of indica body-stone and sativa head-high.
